35072On September 27, more than 40 city mayors from all over Ukraine attended the meeting of the Board of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) to discuss a number of overriding issues, such as accommodating the interests of local self-governance bodies in the draft 2017 Budget and Accounting Law, readiness for cold season 2016-17, residential solid waste disposal in the city of Lviv, electronic petitions submitted to AUC, complaints procedure, etc. The meeting was chaired by the head of AUC and Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko.

One of the crucial issues on the agenda was development and implementation of the AUC Regional Departments Development Strategy as well as the Strategy Implementation Action Plan. The issue was presented by AUC Deputy Head Valeriy Baranov.

AUC Regional Departments Development Strategy stipulates the transformation of regional departments into innovative informational centers that would meet the needs of local self-governance bodies, in particular with regard to provision of broad-spectrum consulting services, assistance in investment project drafting as well as development projects, clarification of regulations related to local self-governance and territorial communities’ interests.

PLEDDG was actively involved in the development of the Strategy, and intends to provide support at early stages of the implementation of its key components in PLEDDG’s 4 pilot regions , plus Luhansk region.
