On May 10, 2017, a meeting of the Working Group on SEA for Khmilnyk Subregion Tourism Development Strategy took place in the conference room of Khmilnyk city council.

The meeting was attended by officials, representatives of NGOs and environmental experts of both PLEDDG Project and the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Ukraine.

The meeting was opened by Serhiy Redchyk, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such constructive a discussion, underlined the relevance of a SWOT analysis of the environmental conditions in Khmilnyk and expressed hope that participants would have a productive meeting.

Oksana Aliieva, coordinator of Climate Change and Energy Policy Program and representative of the Heinrich Böll Foundation Office in Ukraine, said she had complete confidence in a successful completion of strategic environmental assessment of the Khmilnyk Subregion Tourism Development Strategy.

Hennadiy Marushevskyy, PLEDDG Consultant, spoke about the goal, methodology and practical results of the strategic environmental assessment process.

Maryana Zaviyska, environmental expert of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, informed how the Working Group on SEA for Khmilnyk Subregion Tourism Development Strategy would be working and helped identify Khmilnyk’s key environmental issues.

Oleh Levchenko, PLEDDG Consultant, gave an overview of the collected materials which were incorporated into the Khmilnyk Subregion Tourism Development Strategy.

The meeting ended with a SWOT analysis of the environmental conditions in the Khmilnyk subregion, which saw Khmilnyk’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats mapped and discussed. Also, participants agreed on the structure of a SEA report.
