Vitali Klitschko meets the President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
Kyiv Mayor and the Head of Association of Ukrainian Cities, Vitali Klitschko, met with the President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Clark Somerville, and the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Roman Waschuk.
Kyiv Mayor expressed his sincere gratitude to Canada for the assistance it provides to Ukraine.
«We are grateful to you for your assistance and we are absolutely positive that without your friendly support we would not have managed to cope with the challenges Ukraine is facing at the moment”, said Vitali Klitschko.
Vitali Klitschko said that Kyiv was interested in close cooperation with Canada, which had valuable experience in effective city governance, building communication between the community and the government, organizing the work of municipal police etc.
Clark Somerville thanked Vitali Klitschko for the opportunity to meet and highlighted the success of Kyiv mayor’s office in city governance reforms. The President of FCM invited Kyiv Mayor to take part in FCM’s annual conference.
Oleksandr Kucherenko, PLEDDG Director (PLEDDG Project – Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance, implemented by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities), offered the Mayor cooperation in implementation of various projects in Kyiv on city governance and effective community involvement.
Also, it was proposed to start active cooperation between Kyiv and the city of Toronto.
