Poltava residents’ ideas to improve their city have not been implemented in Poltava yet, but there is a chance that such ideas will get off the ground thanks to funding from Canadian government, providing the implementation period does not exceed three years.
Yesterday, Poltava City Council held a meeting of the working group responsible for the implementation of PLEDDG Project. The meeting brought together representatives of local NGOs, public activists and members of the working group.
The working group leader and the City Council Secretary, Oksana Derkach, announced the official start of collection of project ideas for a Poltava Economic Development Strategy.
“This is a contest of project ideas, which will be organized in our city with Canada’s financial support”, Oksana Derkach said. “Any Poltava resident interested in their city’s development is encouraged to submit their ideas until February 28, 2017. We want Poltava to become a more modern and comfortable place to live”.
PLEDDG Project was represented by Iryna Kovra, PLEDDG expert in strategic planning. She stressed that potential projects should be beneficial to both Poltava’s people and the city’s economy. And there is room for creativity.
All submitted projects will be then reviewed by a strategy development working group. The results of the review will be put together into an economic development project catalogue by 2019, with a proper indication of all sources of funding. The best ideas will be included in a Strategy Implementation Plan and will receive funding in 2017-2019.
All project ideas should meet the following criteria:
- Project ideas are socially oriented.
- Project beneficiary cannot be an individual or legal entity.
- Project implementation period should be no longer than 3 years (2017-2019).
- Project ideas should accord with one of three key strategic directions and one of operative objectives of a City Economic Development Strategy:
- Business development;
- Creation of a favorable business environment;
- Investment attraction.
- There haven’t been any similar projects previously implemented in this particular location.
- There are enough human and technical resources for a project’s implementation.
- Project ideas should be submitted by filling in the application form created by the organizers.
- Project ideas should be submitted by February 28, 2017.
