On November 24, 2017, the city of Ivano-Frankivsk hosted a creative session on “City Branding Projects” in the open space format. The event was organized in the framework of Ivano-Frankivsk City Marketing Strategy development, put in place with PLEDDG Project expert and financial assistance.

PLEDDG Project experts presented the Marketing Strategy Working Group’s best practices and ideas for city branding. During the session, the participants offered ideas and topics for potential city branding projects, further discussed in small groups. All the participants’ projects were to comprise a shared vision of a city brand, representing the idea of “Ivano-Frankivsk as a warm and comfortable city of distinctive architecture, authentic and cultural energy, where one can enjoy the taste of unique traditions and learn the modern art heritage by feel.

The local authorities and civil groups representatives, historians, architects, regional ethnographers, and artists came in on working over Ivano-Frankivsk’s brand.

The participants considered about 15 projects, including ““European Village” Attraction Center”, “Ivano-Frankivsk – a city of “warm” authentic cuisine”, “A Museum City and Historical and Architectural Reserve”, “The Blacksmith’s Area – The Blacksmith’s Civilization”, “The City Audio and Visual Representation”, etc.

The “Open Space” is a creative method for having a dialogue or a discussion in small groups employed to determine the areas of strategic development, to develop decision-making skills in the context of problem-based situations regarding communities’ development, and to work in “interest groups”.  “Whoever comes is welcome” is among its basic principles.
