00001On December 12, 2018, the President of the National Academy of Public Administration Vasyl Kuibida and Director of PLEDDG Project Oleksandr Kucherenko signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Academy of Public Administration under The President of Ukraine and Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The parties agreed on cooperation in training, in-service training and advance training of civil servants and local self-government officials in Ukraine in order to reform economy, local governance, cross sectoral cooperation improvement, efficient planning and cooperation across various levels of power for decentralization, support for business, investment attraction, economic growth, and development of territorial communities.

The priority areas for cooperation were identified as those which include creation of new accredited educational and professional (academic) programs for training, in-service training and advance training of civil servants and local self-government officials in Ukraine, aimed at democratic, efficient governance and local economic development of territorial communities.

More00002over, the Memorandum of Cooperation provides for development and submission of proposals regarding increasing of efficiency of training of civil servants and local self-government officials; an exchange of experience concerning best foreign and national practices in planning and implementing local and regional development, in particular, through conducting cross sectoral forums, conferences, educational and information events.

The parties also agreed on extension of cooperation between representatives of local authorities and regional public bodies in shaping regional policy and programs, improvement of institutions, procedures and mechanisms related to local and regional development, etc.
