On New Opportunities to Boost Professional Potential for Women Entrepreneurship.

On October 11, 2018, during a meeting of the partners to the women entrepreneurship development project in Khorol, a discussion of the ways of implementation of the gender initiative as part of the PLEDDG Project took place, aimed at facilitating participation of women in local economic development, on the topic: “Women Entrepreneurship Development in a Town: Ideas and Practices”. The premises of Khorol City Council welcomed women-entrepreneurs, representatives of executive branch of the city council, local deputies, employees from UC “Communservice”, and public activists of the town.

The organizer’s representative,Director General of the Regional Fund of Support for Entrepreneurship across Poltava region, Nina Kuzmenko, showed the attendees a presentation of cases of successful projects implemented at support of RFSE in the towns of regional subordination in Poltava region. She told them about peculiar features of business activity in towns. Entrepreneurs are on unequal terms with their colleagues from large cities, in view of the small niche for development and a lower purchasing power of the population. Psychological factor plays a considerable role too: the provincial town citizens are often feel a lack of confidence and self-reliance, as observed. Therefore, additionally, during the sessions, the focus will be placed on psychology; there will be held dedicated trainings, with information on current innovative trends in women entrepreneurship distributed.

The most interesting stage of thematic discussions consisted of SWOT-analysis for entrepreneurship development under conditions of Khorol town, conducted in interactive form. Nina Kuzmenko reported on that the method was widely used in the course of strategic planning related to its implementation. The task group, divided into four sub-groups, discovered a good many strengths and opportunities for implementation of women entrepreneurship in the town.

At the end of the meeting, a task team on entrepreneurship development in Khorol was created, being composed of the women-entrepreneurs who attended the event. We invite anyone willing to join the events held in the framework of the gender initiative irrespective of any age or other restrictions, who are interested in the problem of women entrepreneurship development.
