On June 7, 2018, Poltava hosted presentation of the SME Development Support Fund created in the framework of the project “Partnership for Local Economic Development” (PLEDDG Project), where, in the framework of the Fund, there was announced the opening of the call for grants. Serhiy Solomakha, City Mayor, opened the event. He brought into focus the importance of entrepreneurship development in Myrhorod as well as of financial support provided to this sector by international organizations.

Development of small and medium-sized businesses and support for women entrepreneurship, eco-friendly business, and the business oriented towards support of vulnerable categories of population, – these and other issues are included in the Program of SME Competitiveness Enhancement in Myrhorod, developed in partnership with PLEDDG and approved by the city council deputies. “The deputies’ supporting the Program means local government’s responsibility”, – Oleksandr Kucherenko, Director of PLEDDG Project, noted.

Valeriy Kokot, Senior Expert in Business Development, and Valeriia Tkachenko, the Fund Coordinator, told the attendees about the Fund’s support and communicated basic criteria for selection of grant applications. In total, for implementation of the projects to be submitted by NGOs and become useful for entrepreneurs, the Fund allocates the sum equal to 80 thousand Canada dollars.

The applications submitted to the call for grants should comply with the following objectives: creating favourable business climate for small and medium-sized businesses; support for SME infrastructure; and development of three-sectoral partnership for support of development of businesses.

The eligible participants of the call for grants shall be non-profit enterprises, institutions, and organizations, non-profit institutions of education, science, and culture from the PLEDDG partner cities.

As soon as speeches were delivered, the attendees were welcomed to put their questions and to learn the details of the terms of the call for grants and criteria for selection of grant applications.
