The purpose of the Vinnytsia Hub is to create a platform that would provide local authorities, business and NGOs with an opportunity to jointly discuss issues related to the city’s development through active dialogue, exchange experiences, put forward innovative ideas and projects and get support for their implementation, as well as build partnerships to achieve objectives of the “Vinnytsia-2020” Development Strategy.

In March 2018, PLEDDG Project allocated financial aid to the Hub in the framework of PLEDDG Democratic Governance and Development Initiatives Support Fund  (more on the Fund here). The project “A Meaningful City: A Space for Communication and Participation”, submitted by Vinnytsia City Council jointly with Vinnytsia City Development Institute, received PLEDDG funding for the development of the Hub’s strategic documents, such as a development strategy, business plan and communication strategy, as well as for the design of the Hub’s logo and promotion of its web-platform.

That is how the Vinnytsia City Development Institute described the Hub’s first steps towards winning public recognition on its Facebook page:

Today any local NGO, and even a public initiative, can fill in an online application to have their event held in the Hub.

And there is much to be proud of. For the last two months, the Hub has hosted as many as 30 events, both one-day and two-day ones: training seminars, congresses, presentations, urbanistic workshops, trainings, debates school, conferences, eco-parties, and even film exhibitions. Overall, more than 1,500 people have visited the Hub for the last 60 days so far. As many as 16 NGOs have arranged and conducted their events here.

Another piece of interesting statistics is that our visitors have drunk a total of 540 liters of water and 300 cups of coffee. Also, our guests have contributed 6 pots of flowers, 6 brand cups, and even 1 celebration dishware set to the Hub”.

According to its creators, the Vinnytsia Hub is going to become a unique space of synergy between local government and civil society, i.e. the place where social innovations are generated, supported, and implemented.
