On September 17, the Horishni Plavni City Council’s small hall hosted a regular working meeting, in which the representatives of local governance bodies and PLEDDG experts took part. The PLEDDG aims to strengthen Ukraine’s municipal sector, to implement effective democratic government and to accelerate economic development by increasing Ukrainian cities’ capacities to advance democratization of governance and LED, to create favourable conditions for growth of small and medium business, to facilitate decentralization and integrated development planning at local, regional and national levels.

The session was dedicated to the development of Horishni Plavni’s investment passport. First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Chupryna, Deputy Mayor Yurii Mukha, Chief of Administrative Services of the Executive Committee Svitlana Kalashnik, the specialists from the Department for Economic Development and Resources, the representatives of the Department for Architecture and Urban Development, the representatives of culture, sport and tourism, business sectors, and the media attended the session.

PLEDDG Senior Expert in Intergovernmental Cooperation and Economic Development Oleksandr Ignatenko, PLEDDG Consultant and Coordinator of All-Ukrainian network of experts and practitioners on regional and local development REGIONET Oleksandr Dudka, and PLEDDG Regional Coordinator in Poltava region Iryna Dudka participated therein on behalf of PLEDDG.

Oleksandr Ignatenko reported on PLEDDG activities to improve investment climate and outlined the geography of the Project, its achievements and developments. He told the attendees about the areas of investment development: initiation of training products on investments, development of standards for attraction and support to investors, development of investment portals, development of investment passports and investor’s guides, support of investment forums, conferences, seminars, and roundtables.

Oleksandr Dudka outlined the competitiveness factors of a local community and the instruments of local economic development, presented the investment web-portal of the Poltava Oblast State Administration created for communications with potential investors (http://plobl-invest.gov.ua/) and designed with PLEDDG support. In the course of the session, he also gave the attendees some useful recommendations on creatingInvestment Passport of Horishni Plavni and Investor’s Guide.
