The III Specialized International Ecological Forum Eco-Forum-2019 opened in Zaporizhia. Not only Zaporizhia citizens but also the ones coming from other countries and Ukrainian regions are taking part in the event. Zaporizhia Mayor Volodymyr Buriak attended the forum’s opening. It is remarkable that it was Volodymyr Buriak who assigned to organize the First Eco-Forum-2017 in our city and then suggested that it should be held annually.

On May 29-31, the III Specialized International Ecological Forum Eco-Forum-2019 will be held on the premises of “Cossack-Palace” Exhibition Centre. It brings together the organizations and enterprises which implement projects, develop and introduce the latest technologies in environmental protection. The results of the activity carried out by the city’s industrial enterprises, utility companies, and academic institutions were shown in the framework of the Eco-Forum’s agenda. For instance, Zaporizhia botanic garden and “Zelenbud” utility company showed their groundworks.

Zaporizhia Mayor Volodymyr Buriak took part in the opening of Eco-Forum. Welcoming the attendees, the Mayor emphasized the topicality of environmental issues across all Ukrainian regions. That is why this kind of event was being held in Zaporizhia.

– Year by year, the interest to Zaporizhia’s Eco-Forum is increasing. This speaks for that we took a right decision to organize it one day. The participants come not only from Ukraine but also from other countries. Anyone can have what to learn here because the latest technical developments are showcased. The most important is that it is going to be not an ordinary exhibition. It will have a meaningful effect embodied in application of new technologies and in cooperation established between scientists, entrepreneurs, and authorities, – Volodymyr Buriak said.

The Mayor stressed on that eco-education of children was an important aspect of Eco-Forum, and that an educational eco-location would be open for children. Specifically, the Memorandum would be signed between “Communtransecology”, “Veltum-Zaporizhia” and “Upper Secondary School No.31”.

– Signing of this document will allow launching a pilot project on separate waste collection based on the case of one school at first. As a result, the schoolchildren will understand what a separate waste collection is and for what it is needed, – Volodymyr Buriak said.

The Mayor also urged the importance of legislative changes in environmental sector. They particularly should concern extension of local governance bodies’ powers related to such issues.

Apart from a showroom, the Forum includes themed sessions. More than 130 speeches are to be delivered in the framework of “round-tables”. The speeches will concern the issues of funding and consultancy for eco-projects, water resources management, the technologies for atmospheric air purification against emissions, waste management, and energy efficiency. Representatives of authorities, businesses, and community will take part therein.

An opportunity to learn foreign practices will traditionally become an essential element of the forum. The guests from Germany, France, Canada, Israel, Poland, the Czech Republic are attending the event. They are going to share their experience on functioning of environmental monitoring system, informing about natural air quality, environmental management, etc.

Therefore, Eco-Forum-2019 will keep performing one of its main objectives: to concert the activities of industrial enterprises, community, and authorities for creating favourable environment, sustainable use of natural resources, and attraction of investments to environmental projects.
