‘The Vinnytsia Hospitality Standard project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses in Vinnytsia in the fields of tourism and hospitality by improving the skills of guides and representatives of the hotel and restaurant sector. The project is implemented by the public organization Union of Entrepreneurs The Wall with the support of the Canadian international technical assistance project Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance (PLEDDG) in partnership with the Department for City Marketing and Tourism of the Vinnytsia City Council,’ the message says.

It is noted that Vinnytsia Hospitality Standard project will start its activities with educational events for guides. Last year, the public organization Vinnytsia Historical Society with the support of the Vinnytsia City Council implemented the School of Vinnytsia Guide project, designed to increase the level of knowledge and skills of guides, as well as to form new unique routes. To sustain the results of the School of Vinnytsia Guide, a business training School of Guides 2.0: How to Organize a Successful Tourist Startup will be held within the framework of the Vinnytsia Hospitality Standard project. Taking into account the quarantine restrictions, the training will be held remotely.

In June, restaurateurs and hoteliers will take part in Creating a Business Association training and practical course, during which representatives of the hospitality industry will receive practical skills in the spheres of development, strategic planning, communication and management of business associations.

In addition, a practical session on design thinking for the development of the Vinnytsia hospitality standard, Sincere Service training and practical courses for waiters and staff of hotels, as well as Meet up of Hospitality forum to establish cooperation between the hospitality industry and guides are planned for restaurateurs and hoteliers within the project. Guides will take language courses aimed at improving their speech competence in the field of tourism and learning how to conduct tours for English-speaking groups.

The project will last until the end of 2020.

Vinnytsia has a significant tourist potential due to its convenient geographical location, tourist facilities, and prospects for the development of thematic tourism. Tourism is an integral part of the development of the economy of the city of Vinnytsia. Thus, in 2019, direct tax revenues to the local budget from the hospitality industry amounted UAH 35 million, and the volume of tourist tax amounted over UAH 2 million.
