On May 26, 2016, as part of the PLEDDG Project, the kick-off meeting of the Strategic Planning Working Group was held in the Poltava City Council. The Working Group included representatives of the Poltava City Council, deputies, representatives of the local business community, scientists, civic activists, and PLEDDG Project experts and consultants. The participants discussed, among other things, important issues of city development strategic planning.

Ihor Lepyoshkin, PLEDDG Senior Expert in Local Governance and Economic Development, said that PLEDDG Project and Poltava officials had agreed on the main priorities of mutual cooperation, namely the elaboration of an economic development strategy for Poltava, reforming of administrative services delivery, enhanced citizen participation in the decision-making process and city management. The participation budget, which had already been successfully implemented in Poltava, was among the basic tools, said the expert.

A properly elaborated city development strategy for Poltava will be an outcome of the Working Group activity.
