Surveys were conducted and practical recommendations were developed regarding the improvement of social and economic integration of IDPs into host communities.  The results of the surveys were presented to the participants of the event with consideration of the specifics of each region.

According to Mrs. Valentyna Smal, PLEDDG consultant, due to application of different statistical methods to IDPs, we often receive very different data. That is why we have to unify statistics on this matter to have a complete picture of age, gender, need in education and in employment etc. Only based on true information we can develop a relevant strategy for integration of internally displaced persons.

According to the recent data, Zaporizhia region is in the fifth place among all regions of Ukraine in terms of the number of IDPs it accepted. About 40% of them settled down in Zaporizhia city. There are 679 IDPs per 10 000 local residents.

The situation with provision of social services, employment services and successful evidences of social-economic integration of IDPs in particular regions was also analysed. By taking that into consideration, and by applying best international experiences in solving problems of displaced persons, a broad range of recommendations for the regional governments was developed, local communities, educational establishments, local businesses, NGO’s, etc that will help in social-economical adaptation of internally displaced persons and their integration into host communities.
