As part of the PLEDDG Project, a report on analysis of investment activity in the 4 targeted regions, namely Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions, was prepared and practical recommendations for improving the investment climate were made.
The necessary analysis tools for the investment climate assessment were determined, a series of sequential steps, which enabled the adequate clarification of the situation, trends and needs for investments, achievements and problems, were undertaken. In particular, focus groups meetings with participation of investors and SME representatives from each region, personal interviews with local experts, content analysis of statistical and other professional investment information, analysis of local and nation-wide documents on regional development and investments, review of best investment practices in the targeted and other regions, as well as new international approaches for investment management that may be recommended for implementation were defined as the basic analysis instruments and tools.
The report presents the general characteristics of the targeted regions and review of their investment and resource potential, description of the best local practices and initiatives, the opportunities and obstacles for investment analysis, and possible funding sources for the implementation of regional development strategies, regional development and investment projects of various businesses.
Based on the performed analysis, recommendations were made for local authorities in Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and Ministry of Regional Development, Building and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, as to the most effective ways of improving the investment climate.
