In the building of the Oblast State Administration, interviews with Heads of the Oblast State Administration departments and focus groups with representatives of public organizations, business and investors were conducted on March 15, as part of the Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance (PLEDDG).
Economic Department (V. Popovych) provided support in organization of the expert interviews and focus groups on behalf of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration.
PLEDDG experts worked together with the sectoral departments Heads of the Oblast State Administration, namely: V. Popovych, D. Romaniuk, S. Podoshva, V. Iliychuk. In the expert interview, problems of attraction of investors to Carpathian region economy were discussed, the analysis and evaluation of the external and internal factors were conducted. In the second half of the day, in the focus group, key problems hindering the formation of attractive investment environment in the Carpathian region were discussed, as well as the opportunities of the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. 10 representatives of non-governmental organizations, business and Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and acting enterprises, created with direct foreign investments, participated in the work of the focus group.
Upon completion of the expert interview and the focus group, PLEDDG experts, together with V. Popovych, had a meeting with the Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration Y. Paranuk. At the meeting, they discussed main directions of PLEDDG activities. The Project will work in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast till 2020.
Comprehensive analysis of the problems, hindering attraction of investors to the Carpathian region, will be conducted on the basis of this work. Specific recommendations on the improvement of the situation will be developed.
In due course, a number of measures will be implemented to form favourable investment climate in Carpathian region to provide for cooperation with national and international investors.
