On June 13, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration hosted the first meeting of the investment profile working group to discuss development of an investment profile for Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
The working group consisted of heads of departments of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration, members of the oblast council, as well as various experts and representatives of the business community.
During the next three months, the group is set to work out an investment profile to provide potential investors with complete and accurate information on the region’s economic potential, investment climate, business support, as well as assess Ivano-Frankivsk’s investment attractiveness and find reliable business partners. The product is designed to build an attractive investment image for Ivano-Frankivsk and spur economic growth of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
The oblast’s new investment profile will be developed in cooperation with Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance Project (PLEDDG project). PLEDDG Project is implemented in Ukraine by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by Global Affairs Canada from April, 2015 till December, 2020. Our oblast is one of four pilot oblasts where PLEDDG Project is being implemented. In 2016, PLEDDG Project conducted an investment activity analysis and produced practical recommendations for investment attraction. PLEDDG partners in the Subcarpathian Region are Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration, Ivano-Frankivsk City Council and cities – Ivano-Frankivsk, Kolomyia, Dolyna, and Yaremche.
Oleh Voytovych, PLEDDG Senior Expert in Intergovernmental Cooperation and Local Economic Development, commented on cooperation between PLEDDG experts and Ivano-Frankivsk’s officials in regard to investments. According to Mr.Voytovych, creation of a high-quality end product will be possible only by applying a systematic approach. He also added that one cannot expect to have quick wins, as it takes a lot of time to achieve positive results. As of today, PLEDDG Project has developed a manual on standards and methods of dealing with investors which contains practical recommendations on investment attraction.
