In the framework of the technical aid project “Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” (PLEDDG Project), the Association of Ukrainian Cities announces call for applications from the city councils, which are AUC’s members, for funding of short-term initiatives aimed at promoting women involvement in local economic development.
The Objective is to facilitate women involvement in local economic development by implementing short-term initiatives in AUC’s partner cities in cooperation between self-governance bodies, NGOs and/or businesses for achieving specific results in improvement of women active participation in economic life of communities and/or decision-making process at the local level.
The initiatives eligible to financial support must contribute to fulfillment of at least one of the following tasks:
- building local capacity related to women participation in local economic development;
- eliminating gender-based discrimination at labour market;
- extension of economic opportunities for women;
- women entrepreneurship;
- reduction of unemployment rate among women;
- extension of women participation in decision-taking at local level.
The activity carried out in the framework of implementation of an initiative may include: organization and conducting educational events, round-tables, informational campaigns, development of training programs, development and implementation of the plans for support of women-entrepreneurs and young leaders, carrying out studies (for instance “gender analysis” of local budgets, development of “gender portrait” of a city), and providing technical assistance.
Caution! The initiatives that include only one event (a conference, forum, or a seminar), or aimed at holding a protest campaign, political or religious moves, and events that might cause environmental damage are not eligible to funding.
The maximum period for implementation of initiatives: 6 months
The total budget of the competition is: 1,000,000.00 UAH
The grant for one initiative ranges from 40,000.00 to 150,000.00 UAH

The applications are received in Ukrainian until June 10 inclusively.
The applications must be signed by an Applicant’s authorized representative and contain a seal (if available) and must be sent to the said address in sealed envelopes.
