DSC03270On May 15, 2019, Kyiv hosted an annual PLEDDG Project Steering Committee Meeting. At the meeting a PLEDDG Project progress report for 2018-2019 was discussed and an Annual Work Plan for 2019-2020 was presented and approved.

Roman Waschuk, Ambassador of Canada in Ukraine, Denys Gutenko, Director of the Department of Business Development and Regulatory Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Ruslan Popyuk, Chief Expert of the Expert Group on Interaction with the Council of Europe and International Technical Assistance Projects of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing, spoke at the meeting. The Steering Committee Meeting was co-chaired by Bev Esslinger, Councillor from the city of Edmonton, FCM Board Member, and Oleksandr Slobozhan, CEO of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

According to the meeting participants, Year 4 was marked by progress in achieving mid-term project results, in particular in ensuring effective democratic governance at the local level. Year 5 will be key to achieving the long-term sustainability of the project results after the completion of PLEDDG in 2021.

The PLEDDG Project Steering Committee Meeting featured a photo exhibition which showcased projects that were successfully implemented in PLEDDG partner cities with financial support from PLEDDG Project.

Also at the meeting, a map of PLEDDG achievements was presented which featured all the projects and initiatives implemented in each partner city with PLEDDG support, such as e-petitions, strategic environmental assessment, marketing and branding strategies, participatory budgeting etc.
