Новина 2_1In the shopping and entertainment center “Megamall” there is a spot where baristas with disabilities make coffee and tea.

Public organization “Harmony” has been preparing for the opening of a mini-cafe for about half a year. They have made furniture, ordered equipment and trained baristas.

“We practiced at Rehabilitation Center for Disabled People “Harmony”. We we took master classes, and were practicing making latte and cappuccino for all customers and employees. I’m taking the shift today. My working day is from 15 to 22. We work in three shifts starting from 10 o’clock in the morning. I like this job, I love the aroma of coffee and communication with people,” says charismatic latte man Yuri Gorbach.

Young people were provided with jobs within the “Social Engagement of People with Disabilities through Entrepreneurship in Vinnytsia” project.

All necessary equipment for making coffee was purchased within a PLEDDG grant. It is funded by the government of Canada through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

“Part of the profit from coffee will cover wages, and part will be spent on coffee, tea, cups and so on. The goal is to open one more coffee spot, – says the head of “Dandelion” project Lyudmyla Netskina.
“People, regardless of their health conditions, can feel equal, because as a part of their work they are developing our city. The social initiative “Dandelion” will help people with disabilities enter the labour market through social entrepreneurship and change stereotypical attitudes towards their employment. We invite you for a cup of coffee!”- adds the Director of the Rehabilitation Center for Disabled People “Harmony” Elena Chornobryvenko.
