On June 21-23, 2016, in the city of Odesa, XII Ukrainian Municipal Forum took place. The purpose of the Forum was to create a platform for learning, exchange of experience and advanced practices in the sphere of local self-government and local economic development. The Forum was divided into three thematic days, namely Dialogue Between Government Bodies Day, Local Economic Development Day and Strategies Day. About 300 participants took part in the event, including city mayors, representatives of government bodies and local self-government, Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), international technical assistance projects, international and Ukrainian experts, mass media representatives, etc.

On May 28 – June 8, 2016, a delegation of Ukrainian officials from PLEDDG partner cities went on a study tour to Canada. The study tour provided the participants with the opportunity to learn about and observe Canadian best good governance practices and LED initiatives and to interact with city officials and community stakeholders

The main objective of the Study is to determine the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and minimize the negative aspects of their integration into host communities, the exploitation of the positive potential of forced internal migration in Ukraine, taking into account the characteristics of specific regions and the international experience, the development of recommendations for social adaptation and integration of IDPs

On May 26, 2016 the kick-off meeting of the Strategic Planning Working Group was held in the Poltava City Council

The first meeting of the Zaporizhia Strategy Development Coordination Council, created within PLEDDG Project, was held in Kyiv on May 25, 2016

The report presents the general characteristics of the targeted regions and review of their investment and resource potential, description of the best local practices and initiatives, the opportunities and obstacles for investment analysis, and possible funding sources for the implementation of regional development strategies, regional development and investment projects of various businesses

On May 25, 2016 in Poltava, PLEDDG experts presented the study on social and economic integration of internally displaced persons (IDPs) as well as practical recommendations for improving social and economic adaptation and integration of IDPs

A three-day training session on "Branding and Marketing of Territories" was held on May 16-18, 2016 in Kyiv. The training was organized by the PLEDDG Project for Project’s partner cities that have already started or plan to work on their marketing and branding strategies.

 

On May 11, 2016, in Zaporizhia Oblast, PLEDDG experts and consultants together with Zaporizhia local authorities and public activists launched work on the analysis of local business environment with the aim of developing a unified approach to business development, mapping problems facing the business community at the regional level, and making proposals for improving the business climate in Zaporizhia region.
