The regional state administration launched a two-day training workshop on the environmental assessment of documents. The event was attended by the Acting Head of regional state administration Ella Slepyan, PLEDDG Project experts and consultants, members of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkassy, and Kherson state administrations, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

Poltava Regional State Administration has launched a training course for representatives of regional authorities on forming the strategic environmental assessment to be integrated into the region's development strategy. The event is being held within the framework of "Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance" (PLEDDG) Project. For two days the participants will study the legislative framework of strategic environmental assessment (SEA).

On June 11, 2019 representatives of the city council, PLEDDG Project, "Melitopol Development Agency" and the city's higher educational establishments met in the conference hall of the Administrative Service Centre to discuss issues specific to the use of "Melitopol Investor's Guide" brochure and other tools for attracting investments into the development of the city. Among other key figures the discussion was attended by the First Deputy Head of Melitopol municipal council Iryna Rudakova.

In May, 2019, 20 Zaporizhia women, who are set to start their own businesses, have completed a training course under the program “Women Business School”. It was a highly topical program. Specifically, it included 8 modules and covered the fundamentals of entrepreneurship for new businesswomen to develop such skills as drafting business plans, the “Business Model Canvas”, marketing and financial plans, customer funnel, communication and team management, fund-raising for business at the launching/extension stage.

On May 29, in Zaporizhia, the session of the Section of the Association of Ukrainian Cities on environmental sustainability of urban development took place as part of the III Specialized International Ecological Forum. The event was organized by the Association of Ukrainian Cities in the framework of “Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” Project (PLEDDG) being implemented by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The III Specialized International Ecological Forum Eco-Forum-2019 opened in Zaporizhia. Not only Zaporizhia citizens but also the ones coming from other countries and Ukrainian regions are taking part in the event. Zaporizhia Mayor Volodymyr Buriak attended the forum’s opening. It is remarkable that it was Volodymyr Buriak who assigned to organize the First Eco-Forum-2017 in our city and then suggested that it should be held annually.

The “City’s Ecology” International Eco-Forum, held with PLEDDG Project support and under the auspices of the Executive Committee of Kremenchuk City Council, opened in Kremenchuk. In the course of the Forum, it is planned to preliminary discuss the activity of the Association of Ukrainian Cities on environmental aspects, ecological issues in educational products of PLEDDG Project, global trends in development of green cities, the Canadian experience in water resources management, public policy in household waste management, pilot project on separate waste collection being implemented in the framework of PLEDDG Project, monitoring and control over natural air condition in Kremenchuk.
