On August 4, Zhmerynka’s square transformed into a true art-quarter in observance of 116th City Foundation Day anniversary. The artworks made by talented members extracurricular activity center and local artists’ exclusive works exhibited both at the art-gallery of the municipal history museum and at the children’s music school art studio: not only could the walkers take a look at illustration techniques used, but they also could take part in the masterclasses.

On July 30, it was the second time the representatives of local self-governance bodies received a training on “Gender-oriented budgeting under present-day conditions”. The event was held in the framework of cooperation between Melitopol and PLEDDG Project “Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” with support of Plenipotentiary on Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men – First Deputy Mayor of Melitopol Iryna Rudakova.

The marketing strategy will successfully attract investors and tourists to our city only when it is not merely a logo but a continuous work on image creation. This was told on Tuesday, July 30, during the first session of the task team responsible for the City Marketing Strategy development.

“Implementation of the gender-oriented budgeting at the local level” – this is the topic of the two-day training which PLEDDG Project started in Myrhorod on July 25. The consultants of the Canadian project provide assistance to Myrhorod – a PLEDDG partner city – to elaborate the essential principles and stages for ensuring equal opportunities of men and women in terms of funds allocation.

On July 23, the first meeting of a task team responsible for the development of a Vinnytsia Tourism Development Strategy took place in Vinnytsia. Vinnytsia is well-placed to secure its status of a tourist centre in Podil region and to become a part of national tourism product. The plan for development of this sector for the upcoming ten years shall be elaborated within six months.

Khmilnyk City Council hosts a two-day training session on “Gender-oriented budgeting under present-day conditions” for directors of structural units of the municipal council and Sokoliv “starosta district”, and for community members.

On July 11-12, trainings on strategic ecological assessment (SEA) of documents are conducted in the framework of PLEDDG Project. The specialists of the departments and administrations, responsible for creation of regional development strategies and for performance of SEA, coming from Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regional state administrations, are taking part in the training.

The visiting mayors of 13 Ukrainian communities have a shared experience with Chatham-Kent – going through amalgamation. Chatham-Kent is one of two communities in Canada that was selected to have a delegation visit, with the other being Prince Edward County in southern Ontario.

Speaking at the panel discussion, Oleksandr Slobozhan, AUC’s Executive Director, showcased decentralization achievements, the role of the Association of Ukrainian Cities in reformation processes, and the assistance provided by AUC to its member communities during the transition period.

Training qualified personnel, which had received further impetus through the de-centralisation reform, was the topic of the round table held at the Centre for Re-training and Advance Training of Public Officials of Vinnytsia region on June 27.
